Women in Photography Small Group

I have a had a wonderful opportunity to lead a small group through Church of the Highlands. Before the Fall semester started Ashley asked me if I might be interested in leading a photography small group. I LOVED the idea and have been so blessed to be part of this group of lovely and talented women! We meet every Tuesday at various locations around the Birmingham area for short devotionals, prayer, shop talk, and shooting. We haven’t had the opportunity to shoot as often as we would have liked, since it has rained every Tuesday expect three! This past week God blessed us with gorgeous weather and we took full advantage! We went to Oak Mountain State Park and did a little shooting! :)

the next week! She is a trooper! We are praying for a fast and speedy recovery! Love you girl! ;) 03oakmountain

All stirred up

I never really share personal stuff on this blog, but I feel I should write what I am feeling this morning. You don’t have to read it, but I feel I need to share it. I am definitely not a writer and do not pretend to be, so here it is. God is stirring my soul this morning! WOW, I can barley type! Last night at church Pastor Chris said he felt that he received the Word from God, maybe it was prophetic and that maybe it was for just one person. Well, I know it touched me and I have stopped feeling something inside of me. The title, “Fanning the Flame of God”, not letting the external determine the internal, but let the internal determine the external! He challenged us to four things, 1. Renew our Passion for Christ, 2. Renew our Passion for Prayer, 3. Renew our Passion for Purity, 4. Renew our Passion for People. I sometimes think I am letting God have control, but this morning I feel like he is really asking me to let go and let him take it from here. Bo and I have been praying that God will show us where it is he wants us to be. Sometimes we feel like we have been left hanging around for almost a year now, waiting to hear from him and have been struggling lately. Once we were in our car on our way home we began talking….and praying…..and stayed up really late. In fact, Bo must have been stirred up too, because he forgot to set his alarm clock and over sleep this morning, lol! God is The Almighty and All Powerful! I want Jesus to be the Lover of MY soul! I know I let this world get in the way and get side tracked by worrying over things that truly do not matter! I want to be filled with prayer, not just when I ask the blessing at meals or when I lay my head on my pillow at night. I want to know that I can pray the way God wants me to pray. Bring it all to him continuously. 1 Thellalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing,”. I want to be pure and spiritual. Romans chapter 8 “Life in the Spirit”, it is a great! I also want to focus on my relationships. God has put amazing people in my life! I know this is scattered if you have read this far, but I just feel I should put this out there. Please pray that God will let Bo and I know what and where he would have us do and go. We are willing, but we definitely can’t figure this out on our own. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 I LOVE this verse! I hope everyone has a wonderful day and that God blesses you!

Refreshed

I just got back from a fabulous workshop hosted by Paul and Mecheal Johnson at their gorgeous studio gallery in Rosemary Beach, FL . I have always admired their work, it is truly breathtaking. But what is so awesome is how genuine they were throughout the whole experience. They were willing to share so much with us. It was a two day workshop filled with everything I needed to be refreshed. I am so excited to start implementing everything I learned into my business. Here are a few shots with my handy point & shoot of Paul + Mecheal in action!

I arrived a little early so I walked around and took a couple shots…beautiful place:)

Vegas + WPPI

I am back from Vegas and had a blast! I think my lungs have finally recovered from inhaling so much cigarette smoke. I guess that was what it was like before they banned smoking in public places. Anyway, I had a blast, met some really great people, and saw new + exciting products! I cannot wait to began incorporating what I learned into the biz. I did not take many photos on my adventure, but the few I shot I used my Canon PowerShot SD890…the point&shoot is so convenient. On a side note…2009 brides, make sure to schedule your e-sessions soon..my calendar is filling up quickly and I want to make sure to have you in the books in plenty of time before your wedding!

Happy Valentine’s

I hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day! I am super excited to be attending the WPPI, which stands for Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. It is the largest photography convention and trade show out there. It will be my first time to attend so wish me luck. I will be back in the office on Thursday to answer any phone calls or emails.

Dauphin Island

Bo and I had two family sessions in Mobile the first of November. We drove down on Saturday to spend the night so we would be able to start early Sunday morning for the sessions. So we ended up driving down to Dauphin Island . We found a little restaurant on their golf course, Flamingo Fae’s , and ordered some fresh seafood to go. We found the only motel on the island, Gulf Breeze Motel, and headed to the beach for a sunset dinner! We had so much FUN! We love the beach. Both our session went great. I should be posting them sometime this week, so stay tuned! :)

The Beach- my favorite place :)

So, we finally made it to the beach this summer! We had such a great time. We actually went to stay with my Aunt Rie! We love you Rie!!! Everytime we go to see her we have to make an appointment for her to do our hair. I love the way she does my hair! So now I’m sporting a new look (the shortest it’s ever been), I even have a little hot pink in my hair! FUN! Bo even got a new look! We didn’t do much of anything while we where there, just tried RELAXING! We did make time to photograph each other of course, let us know what you think.

We went to Dewey Destin’s one day for a late lunch. It is such a fun atmosphere! It is one of those “hole in the wall” places, my fave! They had great fresh seafood!
